This week we had an opportunity to catch up with cjhanpatty. We asked him to tell us about his release “Hanzo” and to show us how Splice fits into his production workflow.

What inspired you to share this track with the Splice community?
I try to post all my tracks with stems that I put up on Soundcloud or through music download sites. I want people to have the opportunity remix my songs so they can improve on the original or put their own take on it.
Tell us about your approach to writing and production. Any favorite sample packs or plugins?
I try to always make something that I would want to listen to. Though I mainly make trap, I try to put different elements of other genres such as house, club, or moombahton.
I think my go to sample packs is the Lex Luger and 808 Mafia sample packs that have a lot of the sounds I use. However the Quix’s sample pack, though small, has a lot of cool sounds.
Plugins I like to use are Camelcrusher and Klanghelm IGVI for drums and not too much else.
You’re primarily a Logic Pro X user. What is it about Logic that makes it your DAW of choice?
I took a music production class in high school and just stuck with it. I think it offers a lot of great sounds and can be easy to learn the basics of producing on.
How has Splice had an impact on your production process or workflow?
Knowing I’m going to upload songs with the stems or project file it has made me more organized for sure. So I try to color coordinate and group drums, synths, and fx together as much as possible.
What are your influences at the moment?
Man there’s probably too many haha. I mentioned Quix he’s definitely one, UZ is one my favorite’s, Branchez, Baauer, Dillon Francis, Gladiator, and KRNE.
You’ve had quite a few users in the community Splice the project file for “Hanzo” – what do you hope that they’ll do with it?
Yeah it’s been great to see people splice it and if anyone wants me to upload the stems just contact me and I’ll upload them eventually. I want producers to just to have fun with it, put their own sound or style on the song. I know some new producers don’t know what their sound is but just try to make something that you would want to listen to and add in different elements to the song whether it be drum patterns, synths, or just simple sample chops.
Where do you think that you music is headed next? Anything that you’ll like to share with us?
I don’t know haha, I’ve been working on a Moombahton track now, but not sure if I’ll release it. I thinking of some edits I might do so just keep an eye out for those. And thanks for the interview!
